United Methodist Women

Meeting every fourth Thursday of each month in the church Fellowship Hall at 6:30 P.M.

The Cedar Lake United Methodist Women are a division of the worldwide group of the United Methodist Women. Our goal is to serve others, especially women, youth, and children. We average 13-15 members. This may seem like only a few but we are very strong and are able to accomplish several things.

We host a monthly fund-raiser breakfast every first Saturday of the month. Most months this money is designated for one of our many causes. We also hold quarterly Potato Bars after church. We have an annual “Salad” meeting and an “Ice Cream Social” where others of the church and community are invited to take part. For fun, most of the members take part in “secret pals” where encouragement and friendship are secretly offered on special days and holidays.

The Cedar Lake UMW supports many worthy causes along the Gulf Coast as well as the state, nation, and world. At home we help the Children’s Shelter, the Battered Women’s Shelter, and the Homeless Shelter. We also have a secret “angel” that we have helped for the past few years of her young life. There are many other areas that we help any way that is possible.

This month we will be celebrating our 10-year anniversary as a unit of the United Methodist Women. A special celebration is being planned at our April 25th meeting. All past, present, and some future members are being encouraged to attend.

We would love to have any women of the church and community join us.

Fanner Bee Prayer Group
Meetings on Thursday mornings @ 8:00 a.m.

Open to all, the Fannerbee Prayer Group's purpose is intercessory prayer. We meet on Thursday mornings at 8:00 a.m. to update the prayer request list and to pray for the needs known to us.  Our name is derived from the Fannerbees who gather inside the hive facing the center and rapidly move their wings like a powerful fan.  This draws out the impure air.  Without this collective action, the hive could not survive.

Prayer requests are made through the prayer book in the church sanctuary and the Telephone Prayer Line.  Prayer support is always available.

Pat Richardson handles the telephone prayer requests.  We have about 20 ladies that the calls are passed on to.  We have had this prayer ministry for about 15 years and found the power of prayer to be uplifting and effective.
